Starting January 1, 2025, qualified patients and designated caregivers can apply for a kentucky medical cannabis ID cards through the online Patient and Caregiver Registry Portal at kymedcan.ky.gov. Paper applications will also be accepted beginning the same date. To ensure your application is valid, patients must submit their initial registry ID card application within 60 days of receiving written certification from a medical cannabis practitioner, like EZmedcard.
For added flexibility, medical cannabis practitioners can extend the validity of an initial written certification for up to three (3) additional 60-day periods. After these extensions, patients must schedule a follow-up examination, either in person or via telehealth.
