Mike Sarten, PMHNP
I have been dedicated to the field of Mental Health since 2011, working as both an inpatient psychiatric RN and a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My professional experience spans hospitals, community mental health centers, and outpatient clinics, where I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients from diverse backgrounds. Supporting individuals on their mental health journeys is a role I deeply respect and enjoy.
Over the past 20 years working in Colorado, I have witnessed the transformative impact of cannabis on mental health. Many of my Colorado clients who use cannabis report better sleep, improved appetite, reduced anxiety, and enhanced mood. The effects of cannabis on clients with PTSD have been particularly profound—most experience a rapid improvement in symptoms after incorporating cannabis into their treatment plans.
My goal is to partner with you in finding ways to feel your best and enhance your quality of life. If you are currently taking medications, I hope that medical cannabis may help reduce the number or dosage of those medications, offering a more holistic path to wellness. Together, we can explore what works best for you.

A Kentucky medical marijuana card is valid for one year unless the practitioner specifies a shorter duration based on the patient’s condition. In order to renew your card, you will need to consult with a certified medical practitioner and update your medical records. This process is necessary in order to ensure that the patient’s condition still warrants the use of medical cannabis.
The application fee is $25 and can be paid online via credit card or eCheck, or included with a mailed application. In addition to the application fee, EZmedcards charges $175 for an initial appointment conducted in person. For renewals, the fee is $125 for in-person appointments and $125 for telehealth appointments. These fees cover the necessary evaluations to ensure you meet all requirements.
Once dispensaries open in Kentucky, qualified patients in London, KY, will be able to purchase medical cannabis from state-licensed dispensaries. Approved ID cards and a government-issued photo ID will be required.
To apply for a Kentucky medical cannabis card, visit EZmedcard in London, KY, a registered medical cannabis practitioner, to obtain a written certification in person. Yes, minors can apply to the Kentucky medical marijuana program with proper diagnosis documentation and written certification. A custodial parent or legal guardian must consent and serve as the minor’s designated caregiver. The program allows qualifying patients with approved medical conditions to access cannabis for therapeutic use. Patients must be certified by a licensed physician and registered with the state. Legal guardians or caregivers can purchase, transport, and administer medical marijuana on behalf of the patient. For more details on eligibility, conditions, and application steps, visit the program’s official website.
Products may include raw plant material, edibles, tinctures, capsules, concentrates, and topical products. Smoking cannabis is prohibited, and other forms of consumption like vaping have restrictions for minors.
For initial certifications, patients are required to schedule an in-person visit with a registered practitioner to ensure a thorough evaluation and proper documentation. However, once the initial certification is complete, subsequent renewals can often be handled more conveniently through telehealth consultations, allowing patients to connect with their practitioner from the comfort of their own home.
Qualifying conditions include cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, PTSD, severe chronic pain, chronic nausea, and intractable seizure disorders.
